Mad World
It’s a mad world we’re livin’ in
A mad, mad world, ya know.
Too much distraction
Strained interaction,
And resentment continues to grow.
Hitler, Stalin, and Hussain…
Monsters in disguise
Ruled with hate,
Until the date
Of their celebrated demise.
A little boy forgotten
“A mistake”, his father said.
Wouldn’t stop cryin‘,
So now he lay dyin’
From a bullet to his head.
.
A young Somolian mother
Nurses her tiny son
On the only breast
The rebels left;
After having all their fun.
The man with the money makes the rules
And claims God’s on his side.
Our young men fight
To prove he’s right.
Four-thousand now have died.
A little girl sleeps soundly
Her parents unaware
That outside peekin’
A man lay seekin’
To snatch her out of there.
When the Hollywood Blvd. lights come on,
The ladies go out walking.
Husbands buy
What their wives deny,
‘Cause whores don’t do much talking.
Children made to take up arms,
Not knowing why they fight.
They’re only boys
With grown up toys
Who won’t live through the night.
Preachers shout on Sunday
Knowing all too well
They ain’t livin’ right,
And it just might
Be their screams heard in Hell.
Desks become a hiding place
For children crouched in fear,
While their classmate runs
Around with guns.
“Quiet, he’s coming near!”
Our country sends them money,
And we watch their people die
Deaths of starvation,
While the leaders of the nation
Live fat in palaces on high.
It’s a mad world we’re livin’ in
A mad, mad world, ya know.
Too much distraction,
Strained interaction,
And resentment continues to grow.
